Summer Programs for Middle School Students

School’s out for summer, but that doesn’t mean your child’s learning has to stop. Due the extended breaks during the summer, the loss of knowledge and skills most commonly known as “Summer Slide” occurs.

Check out Lumos Summer Programs for Elementary and Middle school students. Lumos Learning’s Director of Curriculum and educator, Marisa Adams and Lumos Expert Teachers, Julie Lyons & Eric Ibsen-Johnson will explore fun ways to keep the students’ brain on and always learning, even while the rest are on vacation!

This summer program has three sessions:

Beating the Brain Drain through Literacy

Language Arts doesn’t have to be boring, and the summer is the best time to figure out why. It is the perfect opportunity to explore new writing opportunities, read new books, and even begin to think outside the box in terms of Language Arts. By the end of this session, you might even gain the skill to be a guest blogger on one of our websites!

Beating the Brain Drain through Computing

Math doesn’t have to be always let’s do problems over and again. Hands-on opportunities abound, and the summer is the best time to learn about them. Through this session, you will explore some of the latest apps and games that keep you learning math skills without simply working problems. You will also practice some real world computing that can take you farther than you can imagine. By the end of summer, you might even be your family’s newest account manager!

Warm-Up to a Great School Year

Summer’s almost over. Get a head start to the new year. Spend some time exploring some final ways to keep your brain in gear as you prepare for the school year and focus on academic success.
